Carbonization of Domestic and Agricultural Wastes for Energy Source
Asaph Keikara Muhumuza
Introduction
This project evaluates the technical viability of carbonizing domestic and agricultural waste materials (such as paper, cardboard, sawdust, peels, leaves, groundnut shells, rice husks) to produce bio-briquettes for cooking. These briquettes are cost-effective, produce less smoke, and are healthier alternatives to charcoal. After technical evaluation, women and girls in Tororo (Eastern Uganda) and Mukono (Central Uganda) will be trained in briquette production and use.
